Brake Problems
Nathan Quinn is suffering from brake problems that are hampering his attempt for the Pirelli star program.
Mid morning, the crew experienced the first of the issues but they have not been able to diagnose the problem.
“We don’t have a brake pedal at all” said Nathan. “I have to pump the pedal continuously to get any feel at all; it must be in the master cylinder I think”
Compounding a few niggling issues the car is also losing power.
“The car is dropping off boost really quickly for some reason” said father and team manager Martin. “We will have a look at it at the service this afternoon but it’s not good”
Although the Allied Air Conditioning / Daikin car is bound to lose time with low power and no brakes in the final stage of the day, the 30km Phat Lady, the team are reasonably happy with the days progress.
“We had a lot of learning to do real quickly” said Martin. “Nathan hasn’t driven the car in competition before and had a fairly poor preparation into the event, add to that the fact he hasn’t done a rally since last November, I think overall we’re doing ok.
The team are waiting on the return of the car to fit all new brakes and inspect the boost control system.
