Fingers Crossed
Its all fingers crossed for the Allied Air Conditioning rally team today.
Consistently running in 5th yesterday, brake failure saw the team fall to 9th outright after losing nearly 7 minutes to the field in the very last stage yesterday.
In an effort to slow the car up, after losing brakes it appears that the gearbox has been damaged as indicated by the large chunks of metal that came out when the gearbox oil was changed last night.
“The gearbox is very noisy now” said team manager Martin. “Our chances of finishing at this point are very low but we need to get a few stages in this morning to recover the Pirelli Star points that we lost yesterday” - “We learned years ago that you never give in, ever”.
Nathan is under instructions to nurse the car off the start lines but then give it all he’s got.
Time will tell if the strategy will pay off.
