What a Win!

In only his 3rd attempt in the recently acquired Mitsubishi evo 5 lancer, young star Nathan Quinn has won his first ever rally in convincing style by taking out The Shannons Insurance State Rallysprint held at the weekend. Nathan held off 16 quality competitors in the state championship event and lead the event from start to finish to eventually win by over 2 minutes and 45 seconds stamping his name into the record books.

His backers and supporters are ecstatic and confident of more to come explains sponsor Sean Broadbent from Allied Air Conditioning. “ I don’t think there would be a soul around that doubted Nathan’s ability to win rallies.” He said. “we’ve certainly had our share of bad luck in the past but I was warned by martin when we first helped them out that it’s a tough game. He wasn’t exaggerating, but we are over the moon and kind of relieved that our investment in Nathan is paying off. This is what he needed, and I’m certain that this only a bare glimpse into what his future will look like.”

Since starting in the sport a mere 13 months ago, the team have had their work cut out for them and have had to call on all the experience huddled around Nathan to maintain the momentum. “we’ve had a rough time trying to prepare the equipment to take Nathan’s speed” said team manager and dad martin. “Of the 14 rallies we’ve attempted we’ve only finished 7. In those events we set fastest times and finished on the podium but there is no better way to break through than in front of his own sponsors in his own town. We are very proud of him and the team, they prepare the carn not me, and have done a 1st class job” he said.  “Normally I’m out there telling him to speed up, slow down or whatever, but this time I left it to him and the team. He applied everything we have been training him to do and all the efforts just paid off in the biggest way.

Nathan is excited about his win on the weekend but reminds himself that the world championship is only 1 year away. “it was great to win my first event, especially here” he said “but we have an event in the same area as the Australian round held near forster this weekend coming and I have my sights set on that one too. I need to be faster in the Australian rounds which means more time on pace notes and both of these events one weekend after the other should help greatly. I have to be faster to be good enough to get to the world round next year. That’s my goal, and the win on the weekend has helped me get one step closer. I felt I drove really well to the notes and having Wayne Parker with me for the 2nd time enabled me to trust him even more. It was a great feeling”.
